Development of Site
The first 8 pages were installed on 13 July
2006. The visitor-monitoring
program was installed late on Monday 24 July 2006. On 27 July the site was enlarged to 21 pages,
prior to official launch on the 29th to commemorate the 150th
anniversary of a Times
leader describing Cort as "father of
the iron trade".
Over the next six months, more pages on Cort were introduced, together with series of pages on the
Navy, Gosport and features of eghteen-century
Britain. Further pages were added, and substantial alterations made, in the subsequent
period to April 2009.
The full capacity of the site has the following
